Exams and Grading

Midterm Exams:

Two midterm tests will be given at the dates and times shown in the syllabus. The tests will be administered during regular class time. The tests will consist of multiple choice questions.

For each midterm, the format will be as follows: 1. There are 21 questions/midterm in total divided into 3 parts (easy, less easy, medium), for example: part I -> part II -> part III. Students need to complete and submit all of them. 2. Students need to submit one part (once submitted, it cannot be changed) before moving on to the next. For example, part II will only be released to you after you submit part I. Part III will be released after you submit part II. 3. The questions will be chosen randomly within a pool of questions of similar difficulty for each part. Different students will get different questions, each with randomized variables. 4. All questions require numerical answers with a numerical error tolerance of +-3%. Only 1 submission per question is allowed. 5. WebAssign LockDown Browser installation. During the exam, we will use the WebAssign LockDown browser, which will prevent you from printing, copying, viewing other websites, or using other applications. You will need to install the free LockDown Browser https://webassign.com/instructors/features/secure-testing/lockdown-browser/ before taking the exam. 6. The Final Exam will have the same format but with more questions. Important: No makeup midterm exams will be given. Missed exams receive a grade of zero unless an excused absence is granted by the professor before the exam.

Exam policy: The use of calculators is permitted for performing numerical calculations. The exams are closed book, closed notes. An equation sheet will be provided with each exam.  No additional electronic or internet resources, etc. are allowed to be used.  We will follow the same policy for allowed calculators as the College Board, given here.
